project: Photographs Exhibited at the Royal Photographic Society 1870-1915

This is a resource enhancement project that has created a browsable and searchable database of historic photographic exhibition catalogues, supplemented by scans of the catalogue pages, contemporary reviews and illustrations of the exhibits. The most comprehensive records of photographic exhibitions for the latter part of the 19th century are those of the Photographic Society of Great Britain, London, which, after 1870, are published in full in The Photographic Journal. project: 1641 Depositions

The aim of this three-year project (2007-2010) is to transcribe and digitise the ‘1641 Depositions’, a unique historical source housed in the TCD Library, The collection comprises some 3,100 personal statements, in which mainly protestant men and women of all classes told of their experiences at the outbreak of the rebellion by the catholic Irish in 1641. This material, collected by government-appointed commissioners over the course of a decade, runs to approximately 19,000 pages. [read more]

project: Developing a web-based thematic catalogue: the music of Benjamin Britten

The online Britten Thematic Catalogue aims to document all manuscript sources pertaining to Britten's works as well as providing audio and notation incipits, full bibliographic details, other related material such as performance history, photographs, and, eventually, links to relevant correspondence. It will also for the first time provide a complete chronological listing of Britten’s works, including all of his juvenilia. [read more]

project: Empowering the user: the development of flexible archival catalogues

The project is exploring the issues involved in creating a dynamic and flexible online archival finding aid, which is responsive to the needs of individual researchers. The project’s premise is that most archival finding aids are rigid, mono-hierarchical lists, which cannot adequately reflect the multiple contexts and complex inter-relationships of records. The project is taking a more flexible approach. By separating descriptions of the content of a record from descriptions of its context, the project is free to link any individual record to any number of different contexts. [read more]

project: Henry III Fine Rolls Project

The Henry III Fine Rolls Project is a three year Resource Enhancement project, commencing in April 2005 and funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC). It aims to publish the Fine Rolls of Henry III from 1216 down to 1248 in English calendar format, in both print and electronic form. There is a fine roll for each of Henry III's fifty-six regnal years. Recording offers of money to the king for a multiplicity of concessions and favours, they are of the first importance for the study of political, governmental, legal, social, and economic history. project: Citation and Allusion in the Ars nova French Chanson and Motet: Memory, Tradition, and Innovation

This project undertakes the first detailed study of citation and allusion in the period c1340-1420 as expressed in the two genres at the cutting edge of musical style at the time, the motet and the chanson. Medieval composers had always demonstrated a readiness to exploit existing material in their creation of new works, nowhere more conspicuously than in the 13th-century motet. [read more]

project: Projecting Performance: Interrelationships between performance and technology, dancer and operator

Projecting Performance was a collaboration between performance academics from the School of Performance & Cultural Industries and digital technologists from KMA Creative Technology Ltd. The project focused on the choreographic and scenographic exchange between dancers and projected digital images within a theatrical context. It questioned processes of performance and perceived boundaries between performers and technologists, and it promoted dialogues via an iterative cycle of creative development. [read more]

project: Cambridge New Greek Lexicon Project

The principal resource is a bilingual Dictionary, from Ancient Greek to English, designed for students of intermediate level and above. It is being composed to take account of the many new textual discoveries made since the last comparable dictionary in 1889, and to provide definitions and translations in modern English which will communicate clearly to contemporary readers. It is also being published as an online resource, so will be widely available to distance-learners. [read more]
